According to Star Kibris newspaper (23.08.16) the “Beirut Life Real Estate Construction Company”, operating in Lebanon and countries in the Middle East like Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran, is perpetuating a property fraud in North Cyprus. According to the newspaper “Beirut Life” is advertising on the internet saying that it will build a 17-storey hotel and a residence project and is collecting money for houses that are not constructed by promising that those who buy these houses will get residency immediately in the north and will be able to obtain a Turkish passport in five years with investments starting at $45,000 with installments of only $300 per month, including health, affordable education benefits and employment opportunities. According to the map provided by the company, the projects will be constructed at the village of Değirmenlik just north of Lefkosa, which is impossible due to the quarries there. The newspaper found out that there is no application for such projects at the city planning office.
The Kibris Postasi newspaper (02.08.16) reports that the last round of negotiations for finding a solution to the Cyprus problem will start on 23rd August 2016 and that the two sides have agreed on a road map, if everything goes well.
Cyprus Today newspaper (30.07.16), reported that the head of the TRNC Estate Agents’ Union is warning against buying pre-1974 Greek Cypriot HOUSES in north Cyprus. This warning does not apply to new houses built on pre-1974 Greek Cypriot land. You have to wonder what condition a 50-year old property would be in, it would probably have to be demolished and a new property built in its place.
The night that Chris acquired the name AGILE….it is just so sad he could not be here to see the end of this saga. I strongly suspect though that none of the Kulaksiz 5 will live to see the end of this and that the strategy by Akfinans Bank Limited to outlive their victims will work.
According to an announcement in the Turkish Official Gazette, Mainland Turks will not be able to travel to North Cyprus on their ID cards until further notice and they must ensure they get ‘clear criminal record certificates’ from the police before they travel. Worse still for north Cyprus, all leave for Turkish civil servants has been cancelled and they are not permitted to leave the country. The rest have been told to travel with their passports .
