Referendum for Cyprus Solution Within Six Months

Referendum for Cyprus Solution Within Six MonthsThe Kibris Postasi newspaper (02.08.16) reports that the last round of negotiations for finding a solution to the Cyprus problem will start on 23rd August 2016 and that the two sides have agreed on a road map, if everything goes well.

Apparently this information comes from ‘diplomatic sources’ which states that during seven crucial meetings from 23 August until 14 September, all issues will be discussed again with the aim of minimizing the obstacles. The intention is for the negotiating teams to travel to New York after 14th September 2016 where a Cyprus summit will be held with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.

According to the paper, more than 90% of the issues have been agreed on four chapters, except the territory and the guarantees, and if the two sides do reach an agreement, the aim is for a five-party international conference to be convened in the first week of November for the discussion of the issues of the guarantees and security. It is believed that a “framework agreement” will come from this five-party conference. After this “framework agreement”, a detailed plan will be prepared, the people will be informed about this plan and a referendum will be conducted by March 2017 the latest.

Well, I believe the ‘diplomatic sources’ were being a lot more than just diplomatic – they were fantasizing!

Why when you are so ill Milt. do you waste your time being so bitter and twisted. It really is not necessary. What will be, will be. The way Erdogan is behaving, he may well annex north Cyprus and who would be brave enough to stop him….the EU? I think not.

” Why when you are so ill Milt”

I didn’t know I was so ill!! Apart from being a diabetic, one amongst millions, and have prostate cancer, it happens to very many at my age, I’m 70, everything else is functioning perfectly well. Work is 6 days a week, more than 60 hours, wine consumption is an average of 8 bottles of red a week, well under control !!, well in real life I’m the nicest most polite and charming man, I just feel that having a part of my birth country under occupation by the ….greatest ….democracy in the ME, and seeing fellow Brits in full support of Turkey just makes my blood boil.

As for being bitter and twisted
