While Britain basks in Summer heat, with temperatures above 20OC, North Cyprus is experiencing cool and unusual weather. Kyrenia was covered in hailstones making the town look like a Christmas picture in the Alps and just before that two waterspouts were spotted off the coast. I don’t know about global warming but mixed up weather seems to be the pattern this year. This isn’t the first time that Britain has been experiencing a relative heatwave whilst expats in North Cyprus shivered.
According to North Cyprus newspaper Star Kıbrıs (17.04.19, http://www.starkibris.net/index.asp?haberID=275650) the Turkish Navy’s TCG Sakarya submarine is currently anchored in Girne harbour, where it will remain until 22 April. As of today the submarine will be open to the public. The TCG Sakarya is in the area within the framework of the Mediterranean Shield Operation.
According to the Greek Reporter, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the UN Security Council on Tuesday 16/4/2018 that he was pressing for a bid to restart negotiations on reuniting Cyprus, nearly two years after talks collapsed. Guterres submitted a progress report to the security council on the UN mission to mediate between the two sides, writing that:

On the four or five occasions I come to the TRNC in a year I arrive to discover my mobile is dead. The credits are there but they want money before I can use the phone. This means that when I get to the apartment and find something is wrong I don’t have a phone so I use my UK phone and it costs.
