North Cyprus News on the front page of Cyprus Today on 18th July 2020 consists of one story – the border is still closed between the north and the south and the Turkish speaking Cypriots don’t like it. Apart from that there is little news. No mention of the worse humidity for years!
The North Cyprus News on the front page of Cyprus Today on 11th July 2020 consists of two stories. One is about a child who will die in three weeks unless they receive a stem cell donation and the other story is about the fact that visitors who skipped quarantine to come shopping in North Cyprus don’t want to invest £300m in the marina project after all.
The Front Page North Cyprus News in Cyprus Today on 4th July 2020 consists of a single confusing article about people being banned from publishing criticism on the Internet, including a restaurant review. Good luck to North Cyprus trying to ban Trip Advisor or FaceBook. If you didn’t like something, it’s your opinion and anyone who criticises your opinion online, under these laws, could also open themselves up to legal action. How ridiculous, except for the lawyers who will get even richer.
The North Cyprus News in Cyprus Today on 27th June 2020 is a little weak. More road accidents after lock down because cars return to the roads and news about what happened when the VIPs were allowed to skip quarantine – party and shop.
On this week’s North Cyprus News on the Cyprus Today 20th June 2020 front page is just one article and it’s about a corrupt lawmaker. He used his position to allow a group of wealthy people skip quarantine formalities. Doesn’t that sound like the Dominic Cummings fiasco in the UK. I hate to say it but it looks as if North Cyprus is showing how the UK should deal with corruption in high places.
The Front Page North Cyprus News in Cyprus Today on 13th June 2020 says that British tourists aren’t welcome and if they still want to come even if they have a health certificate they’ll have to spend 14 days in quarantine. Oh, and a couple will pay £1020 for the privilege.
North Cyprus News on the Cyprus Today 6th June 2020 front page consists of one article and that is that the TRNC government wants the crossings to the south opened on Monday, or not for a long time or not sure when depending on who you talk to in the government. Elsewhere, Cyprus Today asks whether the virus has boosted property sales and then quickly says no, prices have dropped 20%.
North Cyprus News in Cyprus Today on 30th May 2020 kicks off with the only story it feels is worth putting on the front page. Almost copying the UK it seems that there are not enough lifeguards to protect swimmers. Excuse me, I’ve never seen one in the 15 years I’ve been swimming there. I guess they used to only go to the popular beaches and not to Alagadi beach.
North Cyprus News on the front page of Cyprus Today 23rd May 2020 has one story, there was a big fire and a million pounds worth of early warning camera system had previously been abandoned.
