Cyprus Property Victims – Ducking and Diving

I have just heard that yet another client has been let down by the Advocate who called himself Hak Hukuk on the FaceBook page North Cyprus Free Legal Advice.

No matter what his problems are, he could at least let his clients know his intentions. On this occasion he just did not bother to show for a court appearance which leaves the client without an advocate, without his legal papers and ‘blowing in the wind’. This matter should be addressed as a matter of urgency by his controlling body, the Baro Counsel.

I have been reading in a UK newspaper of a Merseyside family who lost their life savings investing in Cyprus [Liverpool Echo] and have to admit, my first reaction as an activist was, oh no not another ROC victim.

On closer inspection I really do feel that sometimes we have to take responsibility for our own actions. Did this purchaser really believe he could borrow £200,000 and realistically only have to repay £400 per month?

That would take him 41.66666 years just to repay the capital. Yes he did put in a deposit of £50,000, but really if he had the savvy to save £50,000, did he not have the savvy to do this simpler calculation?

“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.”

My sympathy is for those who paid in full and have nothing to show for their money.
