The top one implies that ex-pat properties lost at auctions because an undisclosed mortgage was placed on them were now returned. When you read closer it turns out that what really happened was that a couple paid thousands to get an auction cancelled and restart the legal case. Big win for expats, auctioned properties returned – EXPAT property buyers who faced losing tens of thousands of pounds because of unpaid loans taken out by a developer have won a legal case that reverses a 2016 court order for their homes to be auctioned. Retired soldier David Eacock, 73 and wife Margaret, 75, said they were “overwhelmed” by the verdict announced by Presiding Judge Aysen Toroslar at Gazimağusa District Court.

This couple will go to the District Court to fight for their property….probably lose, probably appeal the decision and lose again. The only winners are Hasan Alkan…the solicitors for the other side and the court system.
