North Cyprus News | TRNC Billiard Federation Joins European Billiard Federation
According to the Gunes newspaper (14.05.13) Mutlu Atasayan the north Cyprus Minister of Education, Youth and Sports met with David Morris, vice president of the European Billiard Federation, along with a delegation from the TRNC Billiard Federation headed by the latter’s chairman, Askin Burcu. David Morris said that he was carrying out a research in north Cyprus for organizing Euro Tur tournament which will be held this October at Acapulco Hotel in Kyrenia with the participation of 200 athletes from 32 countries. He noted that at the European Billiard Championship will be held at the same hotel in June 2014.
Morris said that the TRNC Billiard Federation is a natural member of the European federation and added that an amendment they have made in their regulations on this issue was accepted at their general assembly and thus there was no problem for accepting the TRNC as member. He noted that Euro Tur will be held in north Cyprus in October 2013 and the European Billiard Championship in June 2014.
Referring to the embargoes implemented on Turkish Cypriot youth, Atasayan stated that the north’s billiard federation has taken an important step by becoming natural member of the European Billiard Federation and added that this could be an opportunity for paving the way of other federations.
