“The Cyprus talks will resume in October” 1992

waitingI find myself looking at old articles and delving into the past more and more. The reason could well be that the present is not a very nice place to be for anyone who has a property problem here in the TRNC. The future, is there one?

I was sent this article from The New York Times dated September 5, 1992, and the first thing that occurred to me was that the more things change, the more they stay the same. It would seem that the two sides are no nearer a solution than they were in 1992. One big difference though, back in 1992 Mr Rauf Denktaş was leading the country; a man of honour and vision. I do not believe for one second that Mr Denktaş would have allowed the property problems to drag on and on and do nothing to address them.

Mr Denktaş sees the ex-pat community for what it is; a great asset of the TRNC.

Read what was being written back in 1992.
