Green Turtles

The WSJ’s website carries an article (click to read) by reporter Brooke Anderson recommending that Americans visit north Cyprus particularly to see The Marine Turtle Conservation Society’s “turtle project.” They say that tracking turtles has made Alagadi beach a hub for international connections and tell how one male, a green turtle, made its way to shore several months ago and is now wearing a satellite tracking device. From Alagadi, it swam to Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Gaza and the Nile delta in Egypt. The turtle’s movements can be tracked at www.seaturtle.org/tracking/.)

At the end of the article the American readers are given instructions on how to visit but suggest travelling via Larnaca rather than Ercan.
