North Cyprus News – Land to Be Expropriated For Water Project

According to Kibris newspaper (21.01.14) land from 25 villages in the north will be expropriated for the construction of the distribution network station and for the pipelines that will carry water from Turkey. The decision to do so was announced in the Official Gazette on 16 January 2014 and a period of 15 days has been given for anyone wishing to file an objection; that’s 9 days left.

According to the paper, the land will be taken from the following villages: Yılmazköy, Çamlıbel, Geçitköy, Karşıyaka, Lapta, Karavas, Doğanci, Edremit, Karaman, Zeytinlik, Kyrenia, Tatlısu, Ozanköy, Karakum, Arapköy, Esentepe, Bahçeli, Hisarköy, Alemdağ, Şirinevler, Göçeri, Pınarbaşı.

If you live in any of these villages perhaps you should get hold of a map showing which land is being used for the water project.
