North Cyprus Government | UBP Supports Civilian Control of Police

Gunes newspaper (10.09.13) reports that Huseyin Ozgurgun, chairman of the main opposition National Unity Party (UBP) criticized the fact that no reference was made to “motherland Turkey” in the government’s program. He also stated that while the UBP would support the efforts for a bi-zonal settlement of the Cyprus Problem, two separate states, they will not support any agreement outside this. He also supported amendments of the constitution aimed at bringing the TRNC Police Force under the control of a civilian authority. He said that UBP would support legislation towards this end.
