Magarina Bulli is a restaurant that we hadn’t noticed before but were so glad we did this lunchtime. It is on the Karaoğlanoğlu road, coming from Girne, go past The Ship on your left and it is on the opposite side of the road, next door to Unwin Estates. There are tables inside and outside, so on a nice day like today we sat outside.

We were asked what we would like to drink and yes, they had freshly squeezed orange (5tl). It is not often available in restaurants, even though there are an abundance of oranges available locally. A definite tick for that. We were asked if we would like to go inside and choose whatever food we would like. Choices of food change daily but this is good “home made” Cypriot food and there is plenty of choice including vegetarian and you can have whatever side dishes you would like. It is 15tl for the meal. A basket of very fresh, tasty bread was also brought to our table. They have a selection of Cypriot deserts at extra cost but we were too full to have them. We were then offered Turkish Coffee with water which was complimentary. Another tick, it seems to be a rarity in many restaurants nowadays.

I had the macaroni cheese with salad, black eye beans and humus, my husband an enormous piece of roast chicken, salad, kofte and chips. Both meals were delicious. A lot more ticks for the food.

It is a very relaxed atmosphere and very reasonable prices. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from midday until 4pm or whenever the food runs out! If you would like to book a table and phone the day before, they will let you know what will be on the menu.

We will be back as it was an extremely pleasant, tasty lunch. The best food and value we have had in a long while!
