Return Güzelyurt Or Else The Cyprus Talks Are Off!

Return Güzelyurt Or Else The Cyprus Talks Are Off!Apparently the south’s Deputy Government Spokesman, Victoras Papadopoulos, has said that a solution to the Cyprus problem is not possible unless Güzelyurt in the north is returned.

“A long standing position of President Nicos Anastasiades that any action taking place during the Cyprus talks aiming to establish a fait accomplis is unacceptable and will lead to not reaching a solution. We believe that announcing development projects in Güzelyurt would be considered as an action establishing a fait accomplis. It is clear for President Anastasiades and the Greek Cypriot side that without the return of Morphou a solution could not be reached.”

This is yet another example of politicians in the south attempting to derail the process by inflaming opinions in the north. The people of Güzelyurt have had a sword hanging over them for decades, expecting the property they are occupying to be returned and therefore preventing them from improving their town and surrounding area because it might be a waste of time and money. It seems that recently they have taken the step of launching development projects in the area and this has inflamed Deputy Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos who is expressing the view that whether property is returned is not up to a joint commission but should be decided by Greek Cypriots in advance.

Really, is there anyone who seriously thought that settlement was even a remote possibility?

NO G/Cypriot politician would call Morphou anything other than the name known for 2 thousand years,
You lowdown cheapskates are full of Turkish crap.

“Morphou was founded by Spartans who brought with them the worship of Aphrodite. In the Middle Ages, the city was referred to as Morphou but also Theomorphou.[2] The Morphou area grew more than half of Cyprus citrus fruits. In 16th and 17th centuries, during Ottoman period, Morphou was famous for its export of linen.[3]”

So if they are working for a united settlement why are the GC’s demanding the return of Guzleyurt.
Would this town just become a part of a united Cyprus when the GC’s finally rig the vote ?
