Pauline’s Opinion | Reflections on the Cyprus Situation

Pauline's Opinion | Reflections on the Cyprus SituationWITHOUT PREJUDICE

I look at the situation in north Cyprus at present and can see real changes coming.

I just hope that nothing that is happening on the world stage interferes with the progress between the two sides of that divides the north of Cyprus from the south.

The situation in Turkey is beginning to alarm me and the more allegations of Turkey actively helping ISIS I see, the more I wonder if Turkey will allow a settlement of the Cyprob to be decided by the Cypriots. Reports coming out of Turkey tells of a regime allegedly becoming more and more repressive. It would be foolish to believe north Cyprus is not effected by events in Turkey.

The Turkish lira is now 4.23 lira to the £ sterling and this cannot be good. I remember it being 2.15 lira to the £ and a good average being about 2.50 lira to the £. I am very pleased I got out of lira when I did. I remember being upset at converting at roughly 3 lira to the £, but that was a lot less painful than it would be if I were getting out at today’s rates.

We are settled in the UK now. Will we ever return to north Cyprus. Well, never say never but Agile’s health is a factor and he is unwell, his condition is controllable but not curable.

I do intend to be in the High Court for the Appeal, if we ever get a date.

It is now 7 months since the judgment in K5’s favour and still no sign of a date. The yardstick I can use is that the last time we were involved in an Appeal we waited from August 2011 till September 2012 for the date and then till February 2013 for the High Court’s decision….some 18 months…a year and a half. Will this wait be even longer? It looks like it is heading that way.

Do I believe we will win the Appeal?…yes I do. Do I believe I will be sold down the river? …yes I do. Do I believe there is a strategy to outlive us by the bank and to some extent the legal system? …yes I do.

Do I believe any of those effected by stealth mortgages in north Cyprus will get justice? ….no I do not.

Can’t disagree with any of that Pauline.

So sorry to hear about Chris’s health. Thank goodness it is controllable.

” The situation in Turkey is beginning to alarm me and the more allegations of Turkey actively helping ISIS ”

Yet, this progressively “islamatized” nation insists on being the guarantor of a small Christian nation !!!
No doubt once we …agreed on that, sharia law may be introduced. To hell with that !!
