North Cyprus Restaurant Review - Charcos in Lapta Revisited

North Cyprus Restaurant Review - Charcos in Lapta RevisitedWay back in 2002 we fell in love with north Cyprus. One of the pleasures here was the excellent hospitality at little local eateries with their typical local food. Most have gone now to make way for places like “The House”. Yes we have eaten there but it is not the ambiance and the food that we love.

There are a few left that are “the way it used to be” and our favourite for dinner is Charcos in Lapta. It moved from Alsancak some years back but lost none of its appeal.

There is always a warm welcome from Cristina, who designs and paints all the art work in the restaurant. The menu is not extensive but for the “all in” price there is a starter, main, dessert, coffee and brandy. I had sea bass (35tl) which was so “meaty” and my husband the mixed kebab (38tl), both were delicious. Their standards are always high. It’s a very relaxing evening with gentle music in the background.

I know some found it difficult to locate but they now have a map.

Please Charcos, don’t ever change.
