GOVT ACTION ON TL CRISIS – EXCHANGE rates for rents set in major foreign currencies have been fixed for three months after the Turkish lira saw one of its biggest ever falls in value on Tuesday. ‘More are dying from diabetes than Covid-19’ – MORE people in the TRNC are dying from diabetes than Covid19, according to a top doctor. Prof Umut Maraşuna, Cyprus Turkish Society of Endocrinology general secretary and an endocrinology and metabolic diseases specialist, said in a recent interview to mark World Diabetes Day and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin that while Covid-19 “has surpassed all illnesses” the number of deaths linked to diabetes is “much higher than the number of Covid deaths”.
