Will new law be any better at protecting North Cyprus property purchasers?

Why be surprised about the auction of Amaranta Valley property?  We have all been aware for a long time that 1400 plus people are going to be affected by the ridiculous situation whereby landowners, builders or  the cat can sell you a property one day and borrow money using the same property as collateral the next. What has the Government done to address this problem? Well they have a new law that gives new purchasers protection now. Unfortunately, they say it cannot be retrospective, I say WHY? If the law needed changing because it is wrong now, then I say it was wrong then, then being when the 1400 purchasers I refer to purchased. Mr. President and Ministers please do not insult our intelligence by pretending you cannot make a law retrospective, you are the duly elected Government, laws are made by men, they can be as flexible as needs dictate. Your new law will be unnecessary if you do not address old wrongs. Who do you think would want to buy here with the current negative publicity?

Now is the time for those of you who do not have your Kocan to go to the Land Registry Office and request a search. You may have registered your Contract of Sale, but this does not guarantee that there is not a second charge lodged behind your Contract by some unscrupulous builder/landowner/cat.  Knowledge is power and ‘head in the sand syndrome’ can be fatal.
