North Cyprus Property Victims | Please Return Laura the Laptop

You may recall my adventures at the police station and then later at my home when I was ‘visited’ by four police officers who took away my laptop. It all seems so long ago and far away but actually it is just over a year a half since it happened.

Laura still languishes in custody. I have not been charged. I did apologise to everyone in an online article when the case against Geoff Day was concluded with his acquittal. Indeed, on the 2nd March 2012, I also made a verbal apology followed by a written apology to the Prosecutor to which I attached the copy of the article of the 17th December 2010 in which I comprehensively apologised to everyone involved in the court in the trial of Geoff Day. Still Laura has not been released.

It got me to thinking of all the happened during that time and the tremendous support I received from the late Founding President Mr. Rauf Denktas. Mr Denktas was a man of character. He never considered himself too important to bother himself with the problems of a ‘silly’ woman like me. He would never consistently ignore emails and entreaties as some powerful people do. He was in touch with his people, he was in touch with his guests in his country. He valued the ex-pats and acknowledged their contribution to his country. Nothing was ever too small to merit his attention. I am sharing some emails between Mr Denktas and myself at the time it all happened. A more caring, sharing human being, I have yet to meet.

Will Laura ever be released, I do not know. What I do know, Laura would never have been taken under Mr Denktas’s watch. A very good question was asked by Mr Denktas, ‘was there a search warrant from the court?’ The answer, well if there was despite my asking, I was never shown it.

I did have a lovely photo of Mr Denktas leaving one of the last Geoff Day hearings I was allowed to attend. Needless to say, it is on Laura the Laptop.
