cyprus-todayUEFA is to investigate football hoardings – UEFA are going to investigate if they can find evidence that banners saying “Cyprus is Greek” were displayed at the Chelsea v APOEL match. UEFA officials were there but failed to see them. Editor – we did this a week ago!

Homebuyers’ olive branch – the Bar Council is to review property law, secretary Feyzi Hansel said at a meeting arranged to tell homebuyers what they were doing wrong. Chairman Hasan Sözmener said the main problem is that homebuyers were “unaware of the legislation”. Editor – and so all homebuyers will have to pass a law degree before being allowed to buy property here? Or better still, the lawyers they pay could tell them?

Restaurant raided by ‘antiques’ police – Veli Dogan, owner of Pegasus, had an antique he found 34 years ago in his flower bed. Editor – I found some broken pottery when I dug my garden I hope they aren’t antiques too!

Police fear drug gang war is escalating – in London

Pub is closed for trading illegally – Alan Beere, the Welsh owner of Red Lion in Alsancak,  was caught trading without an alcohol license. The owner expects the license to be granted in a few weeks.

‘Ignoring the doctors saved my life’ – an ambulance took Simon Johanssen to Girne and then Lefkosa hospitals both of which allegedly refused to admit him. He then had to see a private doctor and a stroke was diagnosed. He was eventually admitted to Lefkosa hospital where allegedly treatment and feeding were withdrawn because he was expected to die. His partner ignored their diagnosis and helped him recover.
