Christofias prepares the way for Cyprus Peace Talks

The President of the Republic of Cyprus is currently in discussions in Brussels. According to press accounts from the RoC (Alithia, Haravgi, Simerini) Dimitrios Christofias wants to meet with EU Commission boss Barrosa to inform him about the “peace negotiations and their progress since the election of Eroğlu as President in the north.”

According to the same sources, Christofias has repeatedly underlined his message that his country will not accept a timetable for the talks, it will not accept the UN in the role as arbitrator and last but not least he demanded that all discussions relating to Direct Trade with the north be stopped immediately and not to be restarted.

Sounds like there’s a basis for friendly cooperation at last. 😉
