During what started off as a general conversation, while having a few beers down the road at Dad’s, I could not resist the opportunity of telling my colleagues that three years of writing a book as a novice had finally come to fruition. Earlier that morning Kindle Direct Publishing had sent me an e-mail telling me that my book had finally been published.

Was it blind panic or just the beer, I suddenly realised that I would need to promote my book. Several offerings were put forward but the best of these was to contact the Cyprus Star, as I was living over here in Kyrenia.

Having spent all of my life, living and working in the UK as a Quantity Surveyor I took early retirement hopefully giving an opportunity to someone much younger to replace me.  From my very first days here in North Cyprus, ideas were coming into my head and for once in my life I had the time to write them down. My book tells an unusual story and in places it questions the belief in God. You have to encourage each individual’s own belief in whatever direction they may go and by reading my book you can follow the direction my mind has taken me.

The Father, The Son And a Holy Ghost takes you from the prevention of a terrorist attack in Boston, to the Father being offered an exchange to work for GCHQ based in Cheltenham. The Son, Peter, is studying for his Master’s at the Jagellion university in Krakow when he has to discover whether his Father has actually been killed while working in Ireland and whether he really come into contact with a Holy Ghost.  His quest results in Peter and his wife Charlotte leading a team of students into deep space looking for a new land.

There are enough twists and turns in the novel to send you dizzy. The one thing that hit me hard while writing it was the fact that using conventional space craft it would take well over seventy thousand years to get to a planet that may be, remotely habitable.

It is a nice, easy, summer’s day read, as you relax in the sunshine, whiling away the hours, and all at a reasonable price under £3/$4.
