Popular Science News | Waist Size Clue to Diabetes

Popular Science News – you used to have to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) in order to work out how obese you were, much to the dismay of short muscular athletes whose BMIs suggested they were overweight. Now it is much easier, although I doubt without problems, as all you have to do is measure your waist size.

It seems that obesity is having a waist over 102cm (40.2 inches) for men and over 88cm (34.6 inches) for women. I wonder how many men will fight having to buy 42 inch waist trousers and will walk around in agony because they are too tight? Women aren’t so vain, of course.
