North Cyprus Property | This Time Last Year

How quickly a year flies by. This time last year I was on my way to my friend’s house in the U.S. So looking forward to my visit to the White House.

I can remember I had decided to grow my hair but of course my fall and dislocating my shoulder shortly after my return to north Cyprus put paid to that. The movement in my shoulder is so much improved and now I am swimming again it is improving even more. That said, trying to use my right hand and lifting it high enough to do anything much with my hair is still a little difficult.

Hard to believe what I had waiting for me on my return from the US, but I am a great believer that one door closes another one opens. I believe God puts you where he wants you to be.

As a result of those events I re-started the original Stop the Blackmail in North Cyprus facebook group and now we have over 2,900 members which is no mean feat when you consider the group is just 10 months old.

A serendipitous meeting with Hak Hukuk also led me to start the Free Legal Advice in North Cyprus facebook group just a couple of months later and that group too has a membership in excess of 2,900. Hak is fellow admin and qualified to give legal advice on this page.

It is sad that such groups are needed and I will be the first to shout a loud ‘Hooray’ when the need is no longer there. I cannot see it happening anytime soon. But I hope and pray for the Miracle when all those wronged in the property scams receive justice. It is a daunting venture, but there are decent Advocates, Hak being an example, and the first step towards justice must be taken by the victim. It is a long road, you will lose patience and spend a lot of money, but if you want justice be sure you choose the right Advocate.

One thing I want to make clear to all those who fail to realise this. I love north Cyprus. I believe there are good honest professionals here. It is the few who are not honest, transparent and reliable who make the lives of many a misery. I believe, because I have been told so many times, that the majority of Turkish Cypriots are ashamed of the behaviour of the few and indeed many Turkish Cypriots are also victims of the nepotism, cronyism and corruption carried out by these powerful few.
