North Cyprus News Update | UBP Statements

“The Secretary General of the governing National Unity Party Fuat Namsoy has stated that the Supreme Court will be taking a decision on whether or not to extend the 10 day deadline given by the Lefkoşa District Court to repeat the UBP General Congress on Friday the 11th of January after hearing Gazimağusa Deputy Ahmet Kaşif’s side. The UBP Secretary General Fuat Namsoy who commented on the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday to suspend the Lefkoşa District Court’s ruling that the UBP General Congress must convene in 10 days, said that the high court had temporarily suspended the Lefkoşa Court’s ruling until Friday the 11th of January.

He said that the high court would decide on Friday whether or not the 10 day deadline given by the Lefkoşa Court should be extended or not after hearing Kaşif’s side on the same day.

Namsoy also reminded that the Supreme Court will start its hearing into the appeal filed against the essence of the case on Monday, the 14th of January.

Meanwhile, one of Prime Minister İrsen Küçük’s lawyers, Güner Göktuğ has that the ongoing legal process was hurting the party.

He however expressed the view that all the problems faced will be overcome through unity and solidarity.” [www.brtk.net]
