North Cyprus Restaurant Review | Morelli – Karaoğlanoğlu

morelliIn the TRNC there is often an inconsistency in food offered in the same restaurants over a period of time so, with this in mind, we decided to visit Morelli in Karaoğlanoğlu, on the main road just a couple of doors down from Lemar.

What a pleasant change, a warm welcome from the jovial waiter who asked us if everything was “tickety boo!”

We were handed menus and a large chalk board listing specials was placed by the side of our table and at the same time he took our drinks order.

We didn’t feel up to three courses so went straight into the main. One of us had the calves’ liver on a bed of mash potato and the other ordered stuffed aubergine, with a choice of either mince or vegetables as the stuffing. These were accompanied by a dish of fresh vegetables cooked al dente. Both were delicious, particularly as they were 22TL each. We were tempted by the 10TL deserts, a lemon cheesecake and a portion of crepe suzette. Again, both excellent but I have to say I had to pass some of my crepe suzette to my husband, “eyes bigger than my…” Ice cream was 6TL, if you wanted something less filling.

We finished the meal off with Turkish coffees and brandy, both on the house.

The restaurant has a nice welcoming, friendly atmosphere and the waiter’s presence was just right, not too invasive but on hand if there was anything else you needed.  I won’t ramble on about the tablecloths as other restaurant reviewers do, suffice to say the food and service were both excellent and that was what we went for! Prices are good for the quality of food and service. Hopefully this will be maintained the next time we visit.
