I visited Kervan Terrace mainly because I had been recommended the Mexican fajitas they serve. Being winter, the customers were gathered in a small but cosy bar which made socialising unavoidable and quite welcome. There were quite a few Brits there when we visited and a small number of locals. The atmosphere was friendly and fuelled by the unbelievable 9-1 win of Spurs over Wigan. Conversation moved on from this to how nice it is to live in north Cyprus and this made the restaurant an excellent place to meet people.
I ordered a 7-up (3TL) and my partner a pint of draft Efes (4TL.) There were several beers (4-5TL) and wines (6TL a glass) on offer as well as the usual reasonably priced spirits and soft drinks. There was a games room next to the bar and TVs showing sport. I ordered the Mexican fajitas (18TL) and my partner a mixed kebab (18TL). These were the most expensive main courses and others ranged from between 12-18TL. Service was quite prompt and as soon as my partner saw the sizzle dish brimming with chicken for my fajitas he regretted his order. Happily for him there was enough spare from my plate to keep him happy. The mixed kebabs were delicious, he told me, but a little sparse, unlike the fajitas. The fajitas were delicious and came with bowls of chillies, sweetcorn, salsa, yoghurt and grated cheese.
The meal so far had come to 43TL which normally would be the end of the meal but my partner forced us into having a dessert, he the brownies (6TL) and I the pancake with lemon and honey (6TL.) My partner described his huge brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla icecream as, “delicious death by chocolate!” My dessert was more sensible and was equally delicious.
Kervan Terrace is highly recommended for those who love Mexican food and good company. It is open 7 days a week and is 10 minutes drive west of Girne overlooking Kervansaray Beach near Mercure Hotel. You can book a table by calling +90 (0)392 8222702 or +90 (0)533 8443777.
