Invitation: Rev Jesse Jackson OBV Election Campaign Launch

We know that many Turkish Cypriots based in the UK read NCFP so we thought we would publish this invitation to a meeting intended to increase voting awareness amongst minority groups.

Operation Black Vote (OBV) is the UK’s leading campaign group to encourage and inspire Black and Minority Ethnic groups to play a full and positive role in the democratic process.

This Friday, 26th February 2010 at 11.00am, US civil rights icon Reverend Jesse Jackson comes to the UK to launch OBV’s general election publicity campaign in Westminster.

Emblazoned on a 100 foot billboard poster the slogan: ’ Expect the best from yourself and society. Register to vote’, aims to mobilise BME communities up and down the UK to use their voice and their vote in the upcoming elections.

We would be delighted if you could attend this historic event.  The launch will be attended by Ministers and Shadow Ministers, PPCs and other political candidates, and civil rights activists.

The launch will take place at Albert Embankment, opposite Prince Consort House, 27-29 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7TJ‎.

BME communities are in a unique position to make a defining impact on the outcome at the general election.

We look forward to seeing you. Please rsvp to Francine Fernandes on 07917786062 or Ashok Viswanathan on 0772594 5877.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Woolley
OBV Director
