Unions ready for blackout – the electricity and telephones may be out on Monday because the Electricity Workers’ Trade Union says it will cut the power because a privitisation Bill was put forward to Parliament on Wednesday. The PM was unavailable for comment but Kib-Tek said that even if there was a strike electricity would continue to flow. Editor: how embarassing for the workers if the electricity continued without needing them to be there.

Crackdown on illegal transport – taxis and buses.

Stakes raised in oil dispute – Turkey warns Israel and the south of the consequences of oil exploration off Cyprus and the EU warns Turkey about warning them. Israel also intends to extract gas in Lebanon’s territory, because it can, and Turkey says it intends to put a stop to Israel’s progressive takeover of what Turkey says is International Water.

Turkey to open eight offices to manage water project – the tender  to bring water from Turkey will be announced next month. The unions do not like the idea of the offices because “another country passes decisions which have no place in the laws of the TRNC”. Editor: this wouldn’t be a union which will be going on strike on Monday because the TRNC wanted to pass some laws?
