Oil Spill Area: Fishing Crisis – a ban on fishing off the 6km coastline between the Bogaz Carob Factory and a lighthouse near Cayirova has affected the livelihoods of fishermen, as has the avoidance of buying fish in that area. Firm to Sue Government ‘for millions’ Over Petrol Refusal – a swiss company which had been given permission to build a fuel storage facility in the Karpaz says it will sue the TRNC government if they uphold the rejection of the proposal.

Police Probe Student Death – a 28 year old Nigerian student was found dead in the sea of Catalkoy. Police are investigating the cause of the death.

Rare Turtle at Risk of Extinction – the rare freshwater Caspian Turtle which inhabits Lefkosa streams is in danger from pollution, poaching for sale in pet shops and illegal use of stream water for irrigation. They are selling for 8TL each, which for a rare species is extremely cheap.
