North Cyprus Restaurants | Derfish Seafood Restaurant

North Cyprus Restaurants | Derfish Seafood RestaurantWe managed to find a restaurant which was just like the old days, with good Turkish Cypriot hospitality.

It is called Derfish, a seafood restaurant. We sat in the garden although the locals preferred indoors as according to them it is now winter. We enjoyed a very pleasant 26 degrees.

We were both brought impressive menus and chose the fillet steak and sea bass.

Well, then the mezes started coming including one or two hot ones, with a nice basket of pitta, home made we think. Almost full from the meze the steak and sea bass arrived along with a lovely salad and chips to die for (not frozen ones in this establishment).

The sea bass was filleted and so tasty.

The owner chatted to us in between courses and made us feel very welcome. He was obviously very proud of his produce and told us some of his grapefruits would be one and a half kilos when they are ready to pick.
Next a sweet Turkish dessert was brought to us, this was followed by a Turkish coffee. So, if you visit, the price you see on the menu includes meze, dessert and coffee.

We had a large bottle of water, an Efes and a Yedigun and our total bill for two was 90tl (£20 at today’s exchange rate)

It used to be the old Castle pub, in the same turning as Mountain View Hotel. The restaurant is open 14.00 until midnight and is closed on Mondays.

Thank you to Irene for the recommendation!
