BOOZE BLUES – According to the new levies, slipped in to the Official Gazette on Tuesday, duty on beer has risen from 3TL to 15TL per litre, the duty on wine has risen from 4TL to 20TL per litre, and the duty on drinks such as rakı, tequila, and whisky has risen from 13TL per litre to 50TL per litre.

Pump prices go up again – AFTER a brief respite with a price reduction on March 16, fuel prices in North Cyprus are back on the rise. As of Wednesday, the price of 95 octane unleaded petrol has increased from 17.33TL per litre to 18.57TL per litre; the price of 98 octane unleaded petrol has increased from 17.58TL per litre to 18.82TL per litre; the price of euro diesel has increased from 18.07TL

Coldest March for 46 yrs – AVERAGE temperatures this March have been the lowest in North Cyprus for 46 years, according to the head of the country’s Met Office.

Be prepared for sky-high electricity bills – HOUSEHOLDS and businesses in the TRNC are bracing themselves for possible skyhigh electricity bills at the end of this month.
