Virus ‘harmful to humans’ – Newcastle Disease was detected in the TRNC’s poultry last month and can cause mild flu-like symptoms in humans. The disease has never been fatal to humans.

Motorcyclist loses leg – in a four week period four motorcyclists have been killed in accidents. Police say they will crack down on motorcyclists not wearing a crash helmet.

Shop owners still obstructing access – Lefkosa shopkeepers were told to stop blocking pavements by 8th July as part of another crackdown which has been ignored.

‘Residents to blame for overflow of raw sewage’ – sewage flowing from three apartment blocks onto Girne streets is sparking health scares. The residents are being blamed for the problem because they are ‘living in half-built properties without title deeds.’
