Power Cuts to Water Pumps – pumps were shut down leaving tens of thousands without mains supply although most people had stored water which meant that the cut would not have immediate impact. The electricity was cut because of unpaid bills and most municipalities used generators rather than pay the huge outstanding bill. It was argued that the municipalities were not responsible for the bill which should be paid by the Water Works Department. Harbour is Hit by Sewage – Again – sewage is leaking into Girne Yacht Harbour. Editor: go on, guess why. That’s right. The electricity was cut off because of unpaid bills.
