Drug Bust ‘Our Biggest So Far’ – 1000 cannabis plants were found in a plantation in Dipkarpaz. A retired policeman admitted that ‘some of our grandfathers, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, planted it in the old days.’
Market ‘Shut Down by Police’ – Bamboo Beach club was closed on Thursday according to a text message sent to stall holders. Editor: a trip there today confirmed this.
More Permits Granted – 83 more Permission to Purchase permits were granted a week after 125 had been granted. The interim government are looking at ways of speeding the process up in order to revitalise the property industry. Editor: whilst this is of course excellent news, it leaves you wondering why this was not done before. If the interim government doesn’t gain power after the elections it will also leave you feeling the process will be halted again.
Fuel Price Hike – 2 kurus added to petrol and 5 kurus to diesel. Petrol is now 3.17 (95 oct) and 3.29 (97 oct). Diesel is now 3.32 kurus.
What happened to the Promised Land? – the interim prime minister has launched a crackdown on suspected UBP cronyism, including the allocation of land without the permission of the Vakiflar administration.
UBP: It’s Full Speed Ahead – the UBP have issued their manifesto in advance of the elections although they admit it was just a continuation of what they’d been doing already.
