24-Hour Ercan Strike Threat – as reported earlier on NCFP, air traffic controller are threatening to strike from 0830 tomorrow in protest against poor working conditions, long hours and low salaries. They had been banned from striking for 60 days and when the ban ends they intend striking. The cause of their discontent is having to work 12-hour shifts for around 2000TL per month. 28 flights would be disrupted.
Siblings Tested For Swine Flu – two siblings with pre-existing breathing conditions are being treated in hospital for suspected swine flu. Tests are being carried out in Turkey.
Tour Operator ‘Barred’ – London-based Green Island Holidays is being told they could not have a stall at the National Wedding Show in Olympia because of ‘complaints by Greek Cypriots.’
