Kulaksiz 5 hearing continues at 10:30am on Thursday 30/6/2011

The continuance of the Hearing for Kulaksiz 5’s request for an Interim Injunction takes place tomorrow at Girne District Court at 10.30 a.m.

As usual quiet, respectful support will be very welcome.

What a lot has happened since the last hearing. It came as a bit of a shock to read about the European Arrest Warrants allegedly in the system and an even greater shock that Akan Kurşat, Advocate for Akfinans Bank Limited is named on the charge sheet.

It seems that the media are suddenly less afraid. Of course we are not surprised that the Cyprus Mail carried the story on its front page and on page three of yesterday’s publication, it is after all a RoC publication. It has also appeared on this internet publication after the news of Gary Robb’s extradition first broke in the Sunday People. A little more digging revealed that he was not the only shareholder of Aga Development Limited being taken to task. Today’s edition of Cyprus Today has named names too. I know that Cyprus Star has also asked for a comment from one of the Aga victims.

It is also allegedly reported that BRT Television has recently aired a programme where it was announced that the mortgage Akfinans Bank Limited put on Kulaksiz 5 is illegal. Today I also learnt that Haberdar intend to cover the proceedings tomorrow, the first time in a long while.

Today’s edition of Afrika carries the Kulaksiz 5 story on page one and page three. I have attached them for your information.

Could it be that at last the media are realising that using the Banking law to suppress news is a desperate measure and that public interest must always come first?

Never give in, never give up.
