Decision-Day for Akfinans Bank in North Cyprus

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday started with me feeling a little jaded, very sad and thinking the end of my world was surely nigh. Then the good wishes started pouring in. Ordinary Turkish Cypriots have united in the cause of the Kulaksiz 5. Kibris Newspaper showed its back bone and mentioned AKFINANS BANK LIMITED and echoed the condemnation of the ghastly act perpetrated by them on the folk of Kulaksiz 5. People are shocked at the cold hearted way these ‘fat cats’ have treated decent people who have worked hard and saved hard to afford their last days in the sun.

Akfinans, we may be down now, you have taken everything we own. Do you care what will become of us? Do you have any concern for our well-being. They say an Englishman’s home is his castle, well ours was too. What do you intend to do with all those castles? Even now, you haven’t had the decency to tell us what our future is likely to be. It must have come as somewhat of a surprise to find that even your fellow Turkish Cypriots find your actions unacceptable. It is not too late to redeem yourselves; you can still do the right thing, the honourable thing. It takes a coward to go on heaping troubles on the weak and elderly, it takes a man to admit they were wrong. It’s Decision-Day, which are you Akfinans?
