Supporters and Turkish Cypriots will gather in Trafalgar Square tomorrow to protest the isolation of the TRNC by the rest of the world, with of course the exception of the Republic of Turkey. If you feel as strongly about the wrongness of this, please make an effort to join the Protest. ATCA and Embargoed will have a strong representation there.
The programme is as follows:
12.00 | Meeting Time |
12.00 – 13.00 | We will congregate at Trafalgar Square, hand out flags, placards and leaflets. Please bring your own flag if you have one. |
13.00 – 13.20 | Welcome speeches by administration |
13.20 – 13.40 | Chairman of Embargoed Fevzi Hussein |
13.40 – 13.50 | Reading of a letter from Lord Ken Maginnis |
13.50 – 14.00 | Closing speech |
14.00 – 15.00 | Make our way down to Downing Street |
15.00 | Hand in our letter and petition to 10, Downing Street |
I do hope that all of those who attend this very worthy event will follow through by supporting the Protest led by ABAG the next day Monday 4th October 2010 outside the Turkish Embassy in London – start 10.30 a.m. till 4.30 p.m.
I am sad that we cannot have our Vigil in tandem with the Protest in London. We respect the laws of TRNC and know they will grant us the same freedoms the Rally in their support is enjoying in the place of my birth, but no longer my home; my home is now in the TRNC the country I love.
