Cyprus Problem | TRNC PM Eroglu Says Turkish Troops StayCyprus Problem – TRNC PM Eroglu Says Turkish Troops Stay

Speaking in Bursa to Turkey’s War Veterans’ Association, TRNC Prime Minister Eroglu is reported by the Haberdar newspaper (28 Feb 2013) as saying that the withdrawal of the Turkish army from Cyprus is out of the question, even after a solution of the Cyprus problem. He is alleged to have said that this is because Turkey is a guarantor for the entire island and will remain so in the future. This is despite the original 2004 Annan Plan, rejected by Greek Cypriots, including a gradual reduction of the number of Turkish troops.

Apparently, Greek Troops are currently stationed in the south so perhaps Erdogan was saying that he expected these troops to stay too after a solution and his response in Bursa reflected this expectation?
