K5 v Akfinans Bank – D-Day Court Appearance

Today sees another hearing at Girne District Court of the Kulaksiz 5 -v- Akfinans Bank Limited case.

It will, hopefully be well under way as I write this but who knows, adjournments seem more frequent than the hearings in this case.

My understanding is that a K5 owner will give evidence today, but whatever happens I guess like you, I will read about it in Cyprus Today. It is a disgrace that as a fee paying member I have no more right to information than a member of the public.

So what will happen if by some miracle K5 do eventually win their case? Will the bank comply with any court judgement? I guess we will have to wait and see.

I personally believe it will be in my best interest to lose the case in the TRNC and go to Strasbourg for justice.

Whatever happens, it is still a long way off.

Today is the 4th anniversary of the auction. The object of the case now in court is to have the judgement of the 20th November 2008, that made the auction possible, overturned. I wonder how much further forward we will be on the 5th anniversary.

Today is also the 70th anniversary of D Day, a campaign one of the K5 took part in. It is so sad he should have survived the horrors of a war we will never forget, live a good and fruitful life, but did not live long enough to see the outcome of this outrage in north Cyprus.

Our grateful thanks to all who died so that we might keep the most precious of our Human Rights….FREEDOM.

Never give in never give up
