Popular Science News | Eat the Packaging!

Popular Science News – scientists in an effort to reduce the amount of plastic packaging in our rubbish have developed an edible packaging called WikiCells. It is designed to mimic the naturally occurring skin on fruit and vegetables and is made using a mixture of algae and calcium that is then flavoured to complement the food or drink it contains.

According to the Daily Mail, Wiki Ice Cream will be the first product to use this packaging and is expected to go on sale in the coming months. This is a vanilla ice cream with a cookie dough-flavoured membrane. Now is it me, or is the thought of eating ice cream with a film of dough on it just a little bit unappetising?
