Cafe Fast Food – Restaurant and Cafe in Alsancack, North Cyprus

We discovered Cafe Fast Food Restaurant and Cafe in Alsancack during the first year here, that is now almost four years ago. Being newcomers, we entered warily as it seemed to be full of locals. Now when an eating place is full of locals it is usually a good sign. Over time we have also noticed that it is well patronised by ex-patriates too. This is for a very good reason. If you want local food, well cooked, always fresh and at a reasonable price, this is the place. Whether it is a doner, pizza, pide, kebap or iskender, one of my favourites for the winter months, you will never be disappointed.

Now being an Anglo-American, I have to say I do have a weakness for burgers, however, I like my burger with cheese on a fresh bun, no salad. When I first ordered it this way, Ibo looked me sideways but now he has gotten used to my little idiosyncrasies, he now tells me me how I want it and it is always perfect. We usually pop in at lunch time, on average once a week. Yes I know I am a slut and I really do not cook unless forced to. It is equally good to nip in early evening if I am feeling particularly sluttish.

Ibo the owner is assisted by his brother, his staff are excellent and it is more like visiting family than going out to eat. The cost on average is 25 TL for two people having a meal and one beer each. A very reasonable price for excellent food. We always have a Turkish coffee which Ibo gets from the Coffee Shop next door, served correctly with a glass of water. I have to say that the man who owns the Coffee shop is equally friendly and has a beautiful smile.

Many of you have discovered Ibo’s place, for those of you who haven’t, give it a try.
