North Cyprus Elections – Sibel Siber Presidential Candidate

Havadis newspaper (16.09.14) reports that TRNC Speaker of the Assembly Sibel Siber is the only candidate of the Republican Turkish Party (CHP) for the April 2015 Presidential Elections.

Apparently the decision for Siber’s candidacy was taken unanimously by the party’s assembly and Siber was the only person who applied for the position. However, Havadis writes that CHP’s deputy, Dogus Derya, posted on her Facebook account a phrase which implied that the decision might not have been unanimous:

“Unanimously? Sometimes there is nothing to say, sometimes you just laugh.”
