Interest rates law warning – six years ago the Constitutional Court ruled that legislation should be implemented to regulate interest rates which inflated loans to “two, three, five or even ten times their original figure.” According to Ersin Tatar, the Finance Minister, work has started “immediately” to pass this legislation. Editor: the delay has allowed lenders 6 years to make a fortune from loans which have inflated to well over 10 times the original amount advanced. In fact Akfinans Bank managed to inflate a £40,000 loan into almost a million pounds during that period and if the law had been implemented in 2006 then the Kulaksiz 5 purchasers wouldn’t potentially about to be made homeless. Some would say the government were negligent and partly to blame.
