North Cyprus News Update | in Cyprus TodayWITHOUT PREJUDICE

Well the biggest news today is the cheeky sods have put the price of Cyprus Today up to 4 lira. Sorry Malcolm at that price, if you are not able to review it, I certainly won’t be paying that price.

Headlines Flyover to Cut Traffic Chaos – Yes the country is on its knees but they are going to build a flyover on the main Lefkosa-Girne road to ease traffic congestion.

Police pocketed speed fines cash – Girne Police Officer Erdal Onder has allegedly confessed to pocketing almost one million lira in fines he has collected. “It is unfortunate that this is happened” Visiting Editor: it is inevitable that this has happened, would be more apt.

Ercan tender won – a Turkish firm will take on the job of transforming Ercan International Airport into a ‘world class facility.’ The company saw off competition by pledging an amazing 47.8% of gross revenues to the TRNC coffers. Visiting Editor: I will refrain from saying mentioned BIG brown envelopes.

On page 5 we have Confusion over Residency Plan – (oh what a surprise). Permanent residency cost to now 1,486 lira. (Wow inflation on a weekly basis) and you may need to also pay for health tests too. ( You have been here 5 years to qualify so surely anything you picked up, you picked up here?) Confusion reigns as people were turned away from the Lefkosa office last week.

Eroglu to present new oil drill plan – Boring.

P.M’s signature was a forgery – Oh dear a document leaked to the press allegedly from the desk of Irsen Kucuk and containing instructions to back him the Prime-ministerial elections, allegedly it was not signed by Mr. Kucuk, it was a forgery. An investigation into the hoax led to the arrests of Mustafa Tanju Tokay and Emir Huseyin. This was described as a scandal. Visiting Editor: good job they didn’t get hold of his cheque book.

I am fed up now so that’s all you are getting… 4 lira, what a cheek!

Two very important items missing. News of K5’s Friday court hearing. Oh yes and what about the bosses son. Mr Asil Nadir, you can read this on NCFP.
