Cyprus Today neglects to tell the truth again and says nothing about Akfinans Bank inflating a 100,000TL Kulaksiz 5 loan to 2,500,000TL.
Strike action to hit flights – into Ercan airport on Saturday 15th September from 8.30am-8.30pm. Air traffic controllers are striking because of poor pay and conditions and because the government are allegedly not bringing ‘the TRNC Civil Aviation service up to international standards.’ Editor: if they can’t get the military to handle the few flights in that period
Bill aims for better animal care – a bill is passing through parliament which allows for heavy fines for animal cruelty. This includes dealing with some of the atrocious conditions which animals are forced to live in. Editor: we’ve all seen these conditions but we’ve also seen motorcyclists whizzing past us without helmets. Passing a law is one thing, enforcing it an entirely different matter. For example, if animals are taken away from owners there is a possibility they will be put down which might deter people from reporting poor conditions.

Reconnecting to North Cyprus – there are fears that Turkish Cypriots abroad are giving up on the TRNC and are being assimilated into the cultures of the countries they have moved to. There are around 300,000 Turkish Cypriots in the UK alone.
