Call for expats to back Nadir Demo – organisers of the protest believe the case against Mr Nadir was politically motivated. Editor: three things really – 1) can you do the same for expats living in the TRNC who feel the same and, 2) it was a jury who found Mr Nadir guilty based on the evidence presented by the prosecution and the defence so perhaps the protest should be against the jurors? 3) I wonder if Pauline Read would be arrested and deported if she joined the protest?
Huge fuel hub gets go-ahead – and they’ll be building a fuel depot on a 150 dönüm site in the Büyükkonuk in the Karpaz with the obvious concerns about the potential environmental impact. The environmental impact reports “found the areas to be unsuitable” but the government gave the go-ahead anyway.

‘They’re charging me for warm air’ – an expat’s water bill suddenly shot up to 58 tonnes, 350TL, for a month and so he videoed the reason. He posted a video on YouTube showing just air coming from his water pipe and yet the meter was recording as if water was flowing. His own bill was reduced after he showed the municipality what was happening but he is warning others to check the same is not happening to them.
