Power Cuts Threatened – unions are threatening strikes because KibTek are threatening to buy electricity from Aksa, a private firm. The unions are threatening to strike if Kibtek do not buy an extra two diesel generators, assuming that to do otherwise will be steps towards privatisation.

Airline Cancels London Flights – Atlasjet has announced that it will not be flying the Ercan-Stansted route from January 9th. It says the reason is that there was a lack of slots in Istanbul. The expectation is that similar flights run by other airlines will increase in price because of this.
