Asil Nadir’s company ‘used for arms sales’ by British government. A TRNC company owned by Asil Nadir was used by the British government for arms sales to Iraq and the Turkish Cypriot businessman’s arrest was “arranged” as part of efforts to cover up the illegal trade, according to a document apparently drafted by the US’s Central Intelligence Agency and leaked to a Turkish newspaper.
Property case nets 20.8m euro payout. It has been awarded to eight Greek Cypriots who claimed they were deprived of their property after the Turkish Intervention in 1974. The ECHR set the amounts for individuals between 100,000 and 8 million euros, with 15,000 euros costs.
