Author quizzed over Massacres – New book reveals identity of one of those behind ’74 killings – A Greek Cypriot author has been called to give evidence on two notorious 1974 massacres after he identified one of the perpetrators in his latest book ‘Memories that shed light on History Cyprus 1955- 1974′ by Panicos Neocleous. The Greek version was published last year and the Turkish version is now launching. He had been asked to speak to police about the identities of those behind massacres at Taşkent and the villages of Muratağa, Sandallar and Atılar. 

Church ‘mistakenly’ bulldozed – An investigation has been launched into the demolition of St Thekla Church at Bafra, near to the $100 million Noah’s Ark hotel which is due to open on May 19th.

Marchers call for closure of border – A group implicated in violent clashes in Larnaca last year is to stage a march on Friday protesting at what it calls the Turkish “occupation” in Cyprus demanding the North-South border be closed.

Lobby group takes time out to focus on fundraising – The UK based human rights group Embargoed! wants to be economically viable because of the expense of lobbying internationally. Chairman Fevzi Hussein said “What we aim to do is not stop lobbying completely but to work more from the Embargoed! website and possibly still be able to visit Brussels to lobby EU officials”.
